This is a gorgeous Hofner mongrel from the 50′s. The tag inside claims to be a bass body but it’s obviously a guitar. Too nice to travel, it lives in London.

I have a very similiar guitar. Same body but finished in a gorgous three tone sunburst and with a bad tremelo. Also has a burled maple back, this is what caught my eye in the first place.
I am planning on putting a stop-tail type bridge on it, possibly a bigsby if it would not need any drilling or other modification to the face of the instrument. I know the originality will be diminished but it really doesn’t make sense to have a tremelo on an artop.
If you care I could send some photos. You may also be interested in the Harmony Meteor, I bought this from the same source as the Hofner and they are quite similiar, possible made by the same company.
